Tech Support: Windows Startup errors.

I was fixing a customers computer that had windows startup errors. I just wanted to give some tips on find out what windows errors are.
Google it. Use Google to find out what your errors are. Even the most experienced tech will Google it. What comes up is mostly web forum’s, blog postings and sometimes Microsoft’s Help and Support site. That’s how I found out that he installed an old version of software I’ve never even heard of.
Now the hard part. You can find out the problem but you need to fix it. Most of the time I will find that out by Googling it. But sometimes even Google doesn’t have the answer. What I did fix it was use a registry cleaner. This will find any orphaned files. Orphan meaning there left over program files. Or even uninstalling programs that were not removed correctly. I used CCleaner.
After that I just made sure windows was starting right. That fixed the problem but I told him to use it once a month. It’s good to clean out old files that are not in use. And it saved him 5GB of space. I’m not saying this in the best program. But I would use it because it’s free and get’s the job done. Every month a new piece of software comes out. So always do your research.
