New Artist: Drake - Best I Ever Had

June 7th, 2009 by Robert

This is Drake. Not totally a new artist but someone with a new song. I didn’t know he had mixtapes but listen to this song. Then you will know how great he is. I don’t know when his CD is coming out but I’ll get it ASAP. I have just been checking his Wiki and Myspace.

PS. He has other songs and CD’s. I just haven’t gotten them yet.

The Great Mobile Phone Vote.

June 7th, 2009 by Robert

I’ve started to search for a new mobile phone. Doing this will take awhile. So I’ve made a list and I’ll be posting some phones and services that will be in the running to be my phone provider.

Sad that everyone has to do this because of crazy mobile phone contracts and bad services.

My Job Outlook Tips

June 6th, 2009 by Robert

For the last few months I have been going on interviews at different companies. And I’ve come up with several things to look for when your about to go for the interview. Some are dirty but companies doing bad business started it.

1.Check there stock and the stocks of the people they do business with.

My last job had a company go bankrupt and I was too busy thinking everything was ok. Not to ask about our main contract going bad.

Solution: Set up and email reminder on your companies stock quotes. Google Finance is good. Or if your really in to stocks try Fool.com

2.If the company talks about competitors. There’s where you apply next.

I worked for a company and was contacted by it’s competitor. I should have taken the job at the time. But waited to long to think about it. You should research the company over the weekend. Then give them a good answer on Monday. Not forgetting the company. Then trying to find the number so you can call them back.

3.When traveling for an interview. Try to get in and out of the interview as fast as you can.

I’m not saying talk fast but when it’s time to go. Just make your closing statements then leave. Talking too much makes you look desperate. I know you need the money but short and simple. Does leave a mark.

4.Don’t stop if you have a job.

I have a job. But it’s not what I’m looking for in salary. Personally it doesn’t pay my bills. I can’t even cut back on anything. Because there’s nothing to cut back. I like what I do but it’s time for something new. For everyone else I would say fight even if your tired. I try to look thought the jobs that are emailed to me but nothing good.

5.More training is ok.

I’ve though about going back to school. School is a great idea because it’s a way for you to reinvest in yourself. Having an extra skill will make your resume pop sometimes.

Here’s my final tip.

6.Do something different. Something no one else has done.

ANYTHING…

Enclosure’s Overview

February 23rd, 2009 by Robert

Whenever you buy a new computer or upgrade your hard drive on your old computer. It’s good to buy a enclosure to transfer your old files. Most people think it’s hard to do but it’s easy for anyone to do.

1. What type of old Hard Drive do you have? It’s IDE or SATA.

IDE Hard Drive

IDE Hard Drive

Sata Hard Drive

Sata Hard Drive

2. How are you going to use the Enclosure? One time thing or as a backup?

One time meaning just to get your files then return the enclosure for your money back. Or using it as a backup solution. Which is a good idea for everyone. If you go the backup route then I would say use Comodo BackUp.

3. What is a good enclosure?

This depends on how you use it. If it’s for a long period of time on. Then one with a big fan or cooling solution. I try to look a the reviews before I buy. If you find one you like. Search different site on reviews. Make sure you get at least 4 different review sites. Example. Cnet.com,PCmag.com,Newegg.com, and tomshardware.com

4. Where are some good deals?

I normally go to Pricewatch.com or Newegg.com. These are sites I’ve shopped on before so I know I’m getting a good deal. The other sites I listed were just for reviews. Most of the time there selection is not as good or even close to Newegg.com.

Final Note:
This is just an overview of what to look for in enclosures. I know there is more information out there. But I just wanted to cover the basic’s. Most people I know use them to back up personal media. Not for business. If you have any question please post a comment.

Moving around

August 11th, 2008 by Robert

Today has been eye opening. I’ve really have to break this down in sections. Work, Life, and Personal.

Work

My job at a PC servicing company just lost a contract. It was with Gateway and if you know anything about what happened to them over the years. Which is the spent to much money on new Gateway Stores and not on making a great product. But I work for the HP contract doing testing. So I’m not sure if I will be affected by this. But even so it’s bad when your boss lies about rumors. I’ll give you an update about this as it goes on.

Life

When to Club Purgatory last night. Had fun dancing with some of my friends. But I really did want to talk to some girl at a club unless you want to hook up. Here’s how the night started. Got to the club at 1030 because my friend were late for dinner. It was going to be at 8pm and they come at 930pm. So I get to the club and parking was 15 bucks. That’s just crazy to pay but there’s nothing else. The line was long but that’s good because of all the girls. Get in the club have two shots and two beers. Later start dancing and feeling good. So we later chill on smoking a hooakah. Which then my friends go to dance and I’m sitting by myself but I’m cool. Two chicks come by to what I think is to get free drinks or something. But I leave and I’m cool. Headed home but not before hitting up Denny’s for a GrandSlam Cheeseburger.

Just Upgraded to the New SongBird 0.6.

June 21st, 2008 by Robert

Get Songbird

First things is that I love Songbird. It’s the best idea ever. I’ve had some problems with earlier versions and this release fix long list of problems. But now 0.6 is public release it kills all other music players. It’s the Miro of music. It’s simple to use and even better to find new music. With radio being the same 10 songs over and over again. Satellite radio is about to go though a merger. I’ve always wanted a place I can find new music and buy it.

Bookmarks

You have different bookmarks to the side that are music search engines and stores. Now you can search for any song that’s been posted on a blog and listen to it. And later if you have a songs that on Amazon, emusic, Itunes and Amie Street you link on the media area.

New Music

Sites like Hypem Machine is a great place to see what new, most searched, and most blogged about. Having a site like this really helps keeping you up-to-date about new artist.

Songbird has a long list of new features that I’m still finding out. Look at the new SongBird Roadmap

New Job doing Hardware Testing

June 14th, 2008 by Robert

Started a new job last month after being let go from another company in Midland,TX. The new company does Hardware Servicing for HP, Gateway and Best Buy in Irving,TX. When I was let go. I was sad but didn’t know how good it was to leave that office. It was in a corporate environment and I like the idea but now I know it’s not for me. So I when back home in Arlington,TX. I wanted to sit back and have some time to think. That next Monday I posted my resume on all the usual job sites. And I didn’t know there were so many Insurance companies that were hiring. Most there Multi-level marketing companies. I didn’t want to do stuff like that. But something great happened that I didn’t know was great until later that week. I got a call from a staffing agency that wanted to submit me for a job. So I sent them a new resume and later that week I was on a new job. Didn’t know what I was doing because the agency didn’t explain everything to well. After working there for about a month now. I think I’ll like the job. I’m doing Motherboard testing and processing orders. After getting my degree I didn’t know what I would be doing with my life. I’m just happy I have something that I’m interested in.

My Brother-in=Law started working for RIM or Blackberry if you don’t know RIM. And he’s making some money. Don’t want to change my job now because I need a stable check coming. I think if something goes wrong with this job I have a back up.

Wisest Wizard

May 10th, 2008 by Robert

I’ve played Wisest Wizard and I’ve leaned a lot about that night. So here are 5 things you should never do when playing Wisest Wizard.
Wisest Wizard
1. Don’t get cheap beer. It taste nasty so you drink faster. If you get beer you like you won’t slam them like I did.
2. Try to have someone not drinking like a fish to watch you. Note: make sure they don’t have a camera.
3. Don’t try to walk to far you might end up locked out side the backyard.
4. Don’t think your so sexy you can call any girl and she will come to help you get things done like you wanted.
5. Wanted to dance but found out my legs can’t move.

Send an email with a link to your Wisest Wizard picture to Station17org(AT)gmail.com
